National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

The NPLQ is a nationally reconised Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

The course is a 5 day course (36hours) with option of bolt ons including First Aid, AED and Anaphylaxis.

Pre Requisites to attend this course are:

  • Must be 16 years of age at time of exam 
  • Jump/Dive into Deep Water 
  • Swim 50m in less than 60 seconds 
  • Swim 100m continuously on front and back in deep water 
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the deepest part of pool floor 
  • Climb out of the pool without steps where pool desgin permits

Subjects covered

Throughout the course duration you will be taught about the following:

  • Section 1 - Lifeguard and the Law
  • Section 2 - Intervention, Rescue and Emergency Action Plan
  • Section 3 - CPR and First Aid 

For this course there will be an independent examination on the last day of the course.
